Prostate Cancer
The Prostate Cancer Charity need your help to build a picture of what quality care looks like for men with prostate cancer.
They know that men face a postcode lottery when accessing prostate cancer services across the country. This is not acceptable. They would like to work with you to make improvements where they are needed most. To do this, they are identifying standards of quality care that all men with prostate cancer deserve - at every stage of their journey.
You can help by telling them what quality prostate cancer care means to you by taking part in our survey. Anyone with experience of prostate cancer is welcome to take part, whether you have been diagnosed with the disease or are a friend or family member of someone who has.
To take part in the survey and read more about our quality care project, please visit www.prostate-cancer.org.uk/qualitycare. If you would like a paper copy of the survey please ring 0208 222 7182.
Thanks for your support.

5 Borough Partnership NHS Foundation Trust
One year on since we launched ‘Sticks and Stones’ we have achieved our goal and collected 100,000 pledges!
At its heart, the campaign has one very simple aim – to ask people to make a pledge not to use words that are offensive to describe people with mental ill health or learning disabilities. Our campaign slogan: “Sticks and stones may break my bones – words can also hurt me,” is a familiar nursery rhyme with a memorable twist.
This is by no means the end of our efforts to challenge stigma, we’ll be developing our links with local schools to keep making sure that children and young people are being given the opportunity to learn about mental health, learning disabilities and stigma. Warrington’s GP Out of Hours
Warrington’s Emergency GP Out of Hours service has moved
from Garven Place to a new home at Warrington Hospital.
The overnight and weekend service has relocated to clinic space opposite the Urgent Care Centre. It will use the waiting room, treatment rooms and other facilities which are used by the hospital’s Orthopaedic Clinic during the day from Monday to Friday.
The Co-op Pharmacy at Garven Place has moved too and is sited immediately off the new waiting room.
The Emergency GP Out of Hours service is not a drop-in centre - patients who think they need to see an Emergency GP must phone for advice and an appointment. The phone number, which has not changed, is 01925 650999

Review of Vascular Services
Many of you will already be aware of the review of vascular services across Cheshire and Merseyside which started in 2010. The review – which is only concerned with arterial surgery (aortic, carotid and peripheral) and the endovascular repair of aortic aneurysms – was set up to change how services are arranged and improve outcomes for patients.
The Trust sought the views of patients, their families and carers, as well as those of members of the general public. This is an extremely important part of the review process as is engagement with NHS staff, Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee members and other local stakeholders. Some of you may have attended the patient engagement event held in Warrington in February of this year, or completed the on-line survey, asking for your views about what you considered to be the top priorities when it came to deciding how arterial surgical services should be configured in the future.
In respect of the Warrington/St Helens & Knowsley application, clinical advisors and commissioners were unanimous in their view that the Mid Mersey application should not be approved. This was because specialist staffing numbers and activity levels in the carotid endarterectomy fell below the minimum standard required for an arterial centre. An appeals process is currently underway with patient and services users views being feed in. We will keep you updated on the progress. For more information on the review click here
