Non Residential Care Charges Consultation Workshop
Warrington Borough Council was consulting on proposed changes to non residential care charges. There are two proposals that the council were consulting on:
Review the percentage of people’s disposable income taken into account when calculating care charges
Remove the subsidy from non-residential care services
The LINk/HealthWatch held their consultation to gather the views of service users, carers and representatives of Third Sector organisations who work with service users and carers. 23 people attended the event to give their views. For the full report please click here
Consultation Event on the Government's Suicide Prevention Strategy
Wigan and Warrington Local Involvement Networks in partnership with 5 Boroughs Partnership organised a consultation event for service users, carers and organisations who work with service users and carers to discuss the Government’s Preventing Suicide Strategy. 30 people attended the event from across the 5 borough areas.
Attendees were given the opportunity to express their views as a group and also to put any issues/ comments on post it notes to share anonymously. The consultation document has seven action areas for comment including what are the key high risk groups, approaches to improve mental health, reducing access to the means of suicide, improving information and support for those affected by suicide, supporting the media in delivering sensitive approaches and supporting research and monitoring.

Workshop on WBC's Social Care Information and Advice Strategy 1st August 2011
Warrington Borough Council has produced its draft Universal Adult Social Care Information and Advice Strategy to set out what arrangements will be made to ensure adult social care information and advice is available to all and easily accessible. The aim of the workshop was to gather views from service users, carers and representatives from Third Sector organisations who work regularly with service users and carers. The attendees were asked their thoughts on:
Have the correct priority action areas been identified?
What do you think are the main issues in implementing the strategy, thinking about the seven priority action areas?
What sort of support could you provide to the development of a universal adult social care information and advice service?

Experience of Using Mental Health Services in Warrington - 8th June 2011
The event was organised for service users, carers and representatives of organisations who work with mental health services users for them to discuss their experiences of mental health services in Warrington. The event was organised in partnership with NHS Warrington’s Mental Health Commissioner and with involvement of the GP lead for Mental Health from the GP Consortium. The 4 areas the event focused on were:

Care
Staff Attitude

Pharmacy Event February 2011
The LINk, working with the General Pharmaceutical Council, organised a small workshop to ask people on Methadone their experiences of using local Pharmacies. The responses were really interesting, and will feed into the GPC's educational standards. The report was been feed into local substance misuse service user groups and a member of the Local Pharmaceutical Committee will attend a LINk meeting in September to discuss the issues in the report. click here for the event report
